Two Exciting Videos

Two exciting videos:

My daughter, mom and I travelled to the National March for Life in Ottawa on May 10th and marched with 19,500 other people who are concerned about the lack of protection for human beings who are not yet born. This video highlights the growing Pro-Life Movement in Canada – which is largely made up of young people.

And, we’ll find out what is coming tomorrow!

Make an Impact For Life!

The Respect for Life Student Leadership Conference in Toronto last week was an excellent event and I was honoured to be a part of

Respect for Life Student Leadership Conference

the day. My mom, daughter and I arrived in the afternoon and we were pleasantly surprised to see some students from St. Marcellinus who I trained a few weeks before. PS You are all awesome!

My talk focussed on making an impact on the high school level. Pro-Life clubs in high school are essential for building a culture of life in our country. I encouraged them to make a personal commitment to Life, Truth and Justice. But to not stop there. Continue to learn about the life issues and be pro-ACTIVEly pro-life. It is not enough to just believe abortion is wrong, our lifestyle must reflect this.

Part of being pro-ACTIVEly pro-life is attending the National March for Life or regional events which is what I will be doing this week with tens of thousands of others in Ottawa. I’m looking forward to seeing many familar faces as we march to seek justice for humans who are not yet born.

Life Week

Leaders of Crusaders for Life with my daughter during Life Week!

Last week Crusaders for Life at Assumption CSS in Burlington, ON hosting their annual Life Week! I dropped by with a friend and my daughter. The club brought in local pro-life organizations such as Halton Pro-Life and Shifra Home to show their peers what is available to them. They sold cupcakes and pro-life t-shirts to raise money for their upcoming trip to the National March for Life.

It was great visiting the school since my training series with them!

Next up is the Respect for Life High School Leadership Conference on May 1st. I am looking forward to speaking at the conference along with these excellent speakers:

Michael Coren – Columnist, Author and Talk Show Host of “The Arena”

Lia Mills – High School Student, Pro-Life Speaker & Student Life Link Spokesperson

Rebecca Richmond – Executive Director of the National Campus Life Network

Debbie Fisher – Speaker for Toronto Right to Life Association

Alissa Golob – Youth Coordinator for Campaign Life Coalition

Jonathon Van Maren – Communications Director for the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform

Cornwall and back again

I asked the students if this statement was "true" or "false" - many learned that it is true, much to their surprise.

On April 11th my mom, daughter and I travelled to Cornwall. I presented the pro-life message to both of their Catholic high schools the following day. It was very encouraging to have principals who worked with the local pro-life group, Pro-Life Cornwall Pro-Vie, to bring this important message to all of their students.

While I was in Cornwall, Stephanie Gray from the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform (CCBR) was in my neighbourhood speaking to a couple schools in the area. These opportunities are excellent for sharing the truth about abortion, however Stephanie and I were both asked to withhold showing the truth through visual evidence. Please listen to Stephanie on this podcast as she explains what happened at one of her presentations and why withholding the truth is more harmful than showing it.

Training High School Students

March 2012 has been a great month for pro-life high school students! I have been fortunate enough to spend time with two enthusiastic groups of students. Their desire to learn more about the pro-life issues and how to share the pro-life message with their peers to impact their community and country is inspiring!

I spent four weeks training the Crusaders for Life in Burlington. We worked together through common pro-choice arguments and how to respond with reason and compassion. They are gearing up for their Life Week in April and I am confident will have many significant conversations about the life issues then and in the upcoming months as they finish the school year.

It was the first time I did a presentation since our daughter was born. She attended two of the four training sessions. It was even more significant since the last time I was with this particular club I was pregnant with our daughter and now they were able to meet her.

Pro-Life Students at St. Marcellinus

This past Friday I spent the day at St. Marcellinus in Mississauga with fifty pro-life students who were eager to learn more about the pro-life issues AND how to give presentations to their peers. They will be working in groups to present the case for life in the upcoming months to their school. It was very encouraging to see their interest in this issue – not only do they believe the pro-life message, they are willing to stand up for the preborn and be their voice.

I look forward to hearing about their presentations and providing additional resources for them.

Next stop: Cornwall in April!

Pro-Life in 2012

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Years!

I have a feeling there will be a lot of pro-life activism in 2012. There are courageous MPs speaking up for the preborn, campus groups promoting life across Canada, communities joining EndTheKilling… we really have no excuse to not get involved in some way.

For my part, I will be continuing with my presentations and look forward to sharing and showing the truth about abortion in 2012!

Our Daughter

Our daughter was born at the end of September and we’ve been have a lot of fun with this new adventure of being parents to a newborn! It is quite different than being a parent to a pre-born child :) She has already grown so much since her first few days! It is very exciting seeing her experience things for the first time.

A friend posted this on Facebook recently which I thought was rather lovely – the relationship between a father and daughter is so important! Here are 50 Rules for Dads of Daughters.

Speaking Engagements

As I am now in my third trimester, I will be taking a break from speaking engagements as my husband and I prepare for the birth of our first child. S/he is due mid-September :)

If you have a speaking request for anytime mid-October onwards, please feel free to contact me using the “Book a Presentation” tab or email theresa@theresagilbert.com.

Thanks!
